Jerusalem

Jerusalem

I have been a tour guide in Jerusalem for many years. When we’ll go through the streets of Jerusalem, either by day or by night, on normal occasions, or during high religious seasons, we’ll be able to sense the immense power of this one giant puzzle of history. Jerusalem is an exception in this world. It is virtually a unique city where contrasting elements live in harmony. It is the holiest site to three of the greatest monotheistic religions: christians, muslims, and jews when we’ll stroll the streets of Jerusalem together, I will show you how harmony forms by the blending of cultures in daily life. In Jerusalem, every house, every street corner, every stone and shadow has its own story to tell; a tale of dramatic events dating thousands of years back in time. To the newcomers at the gates of Jerusalem, these fabulous stories are mostly encrypted and we can explore them together. Time on earth has taught the people of Jerusalem the secrets of harmony, even though often threatened by outbursts of conflict and violence. On most occassions, however, harmony results in joy, humor, exquisite scents, colors and tastes and life. To sense this amazing puzzle of forces, stitched together by people one has to stand at the gates of Jerusalem. I invite you to come along.

Sea of Galilee

Sea of Galilee

When i’m offered a ride to lake kinneret, I would join anytime. Situated only a few hours drive away from most of israel’s central habitats, this unique corner is a world of its own. Lake kinneret lies 200m below sea level and together we will dive to explore young jesus’ most favorate garden on earth. Recent excavations have unveiled how real jesus was in his time and together we will feel the impact this little paradise on earth has had on his life. He was not the first to fall in love with this site, which has been already settled and harvested during prehistoric times. On the shores of lake kinneret, everywhere you look, you sense the blessing of life. When jewish agricultural settlers retuirned to the promissed land in the 19th centuary, no wonder they fell in love with this paradise. But life here was far from easy. The jewish settlers had to battle malaria and replant the soil many died or even lost their minds. The volcanic soil they irrigated caught fire and out burst new life. The sea of galilee or genezareth collects giant masses of water pouring down from the highest middle eastern mountains. Today, the restoration of this area’s natural habitats has given birth to one of the largest miggrating bird’s sancuaries on earth. This little paradise is warm almost all year round and every kind of outdoor activity is here to enjoy including exceptional local cuisine.

(you can approach this lake by many roads has a story to tell of it’s own; whether the life of the young Jesus from Nazareth preaching to them on it’s shores and learning from them a thing or two about life, the many houses of prayer his f shores, or the reminiscence to jewish settlers falling in love with this wonder of nature and ma i can tell you how malaria was fought and how the dried volcanic soil above the lake caught fir create one of the largest bird sanctuaries in the world. Lake kinneret, by it’s hebrew name,) was like a violin to the first jewish settlers viewing it from above. The sea of galilee or genezareth collects giant masses of water pouring down from the highest middle eastern mountains at 200 meters below sea level, this unique treasure has been embraced by all religions as an home for many recreational pleasures, delicious cuisine, agricultural innovation, and archeolog round. Visiting this sanctuary with i will enable you to get a genuine taste of it all; how a direct this very day has been preserved.)

Lake kinneret, by its Hebrew name, was like a violin to the first Jewish settlers viewing it from above. When we’ll reemmerge together from our dive, you will definitely feel why everbody falls in love with this unique little paradise.

Tel Aviv - Jaffa

Tel-Aviv Jaffa

Tel-Aviv is known as the cultural capital of Israel and the city that never sleeps. Tel-Aviv has beautiful beaches, amazing food and an incredible mixture of cultures and views. But for me, it is much more than that - Tel-Aviv is where I was born and raised. I know this city like the palm of my hand, its hidden paths, its history, and secrets. Join me for a tour in my hometown. We will first go back together in time. The city of Jaffa is as old as time. This is the port from which Jonnas the prophet went to sea, where whales were still abundant as fish. The pharaohs were here too attempting to conquer the coastline. The healing of the daughter of Simmon the tanner, tabitha, took place here. The crusaders landed here and even Napolean passed here along on his way from Egypt to attack the fortress in acre.

During islamic rule, Abu Nabutt rebuilt the city into a glorious metropole all the way into the 20th centuary. At one point, Jaffa was named “the port of Jerusalem” because this was where the land route to holy Jerusalem began. Later, oranges were exported from Jaffa port to ports around the world and were therefore called “Jaffa oranges.”

We will stand together on the Jaffa hill late in the afternoon to watch the sun ball go down into the blue mediterranean sea. We will close our eyes for a second and imagine that just roughly 100 years ago, the entire landscape north of Jaffa was mostly barren sand dunes. In just 100 years, a giant metropole simply exploded here. I will show you how it all began. We will follow the path of the first few jewish families who left crowded Jaffa to seek new life and see where they settled in the dunes just by the sea in a patch of houses they called “neve tzededek”, the fountain of justice. Some people still live here as if time had stood still, altough this entire area has been now restored to become an exquisite hub for art and cusine. Later, Arie Akiva weiss had a vision of a new and bustling town. He assembled 66 families and together they laid foundations to the first hebrew city in modern times all built on sand. Founded on April 11, 1909, they called their new home Tel-Aviv, which stands for hill “tel” and spring “aviv.” This magic spring-renaissance did not take long to bloom.  Here, the first secular hebrew high schools were opened and in Tel Aviv, David Ben Gurion, our first prime minister, declared in 1948 the state of Israel. For people interested in architecture and urban development, Tel-Aviv is an equisite jewel to marvel at. It not only maintained the largest restored bauhaus site on earth, but also unique sites of earlier architectural style in jaffo, which has become a busstling multi-cultural centre for muslims, christians and jews. Tel-Aviv is also one of the most famous lgbt hotspots on planet earth. Tollerance and diversity drive this city wild with ingenuity and common pride. But most of all, Tel-Aviv is all about the future and if you want to have a quick glimpse of what the future would be like, you should come along with me. In Tel-Aviv, below mushrooming skyscrapers and a viable existence of joy and commerse, the fallies of modern life become naked to the eye: overwhelming trafic, noise, pollusion, consumption, waste, diminishing green, and most of all the threats of global warming on life. Will Tel-Aviv flood in 30 years and sink in the sand? My own hometown? In Tel-Aviv, you can definitely sense that people are beginning to change because their valuable city is at the front line. We can check these things together on my tour. But in Tel-Aviv, nothing compares to walking one or two blocks away from the heat of action; taking your clothes off and plunging into the cool waves of the mediterranean sea. You can do this all year round and gaze with awe at this masterpiece of human creation; let your thoughts become deliquescent and forget about everything. This is the city i love and will be happy to show you.

Jaffa and the history from the holy bible , the Greek mythology , the pharaohs that come here to conquer Israel. The healing of tabitha the daughter of Simon the tanner . The crusaders and even napoleon that came here from egypt on his way to acre where he los and destroyed the city and this was the beginning of his end . The muslims leading by Abu – Nabutt that rebuilt the city up to our days. The port of Jaffa called the "port of Jerusalem" because all the pilgeims came here on their wa also from here we export the oranges to europe under the logo " Jaffa oranges " some jewish families want to live a free life so they left Jaffa and build a new neighborhood an tzedek close to Jaffa. Arie Akiva weiss had a vision of a new and a big town so he assembled 66 families and they st city on the sands and they called it Tel-Aviv in 1909. Here was the first hebrew high school here David Ben Gurion, our first prime minister declared state of Israel . The culture life begin here and here are the center of the economic life of the st because Tel – Aviv – Jaffa is a new city we don't have archaeological sites of entertainments like bars restaurants the house of the Israel philharmonic orchestra the national theatre

Acre

Acre

Acre: The crusader city from the days of the crusades. On all the marine communes, and yes, The Templars and the Hospitallers Knights and of course, the Ottoman city, whose walls ever faced Napoleon.

Acre also has the holy place for the Baha'is.

Just like Haifa, Acre is a religiously mixed city.

We will move on, and pass Nahariya, and arrive at the Rosh Hanikra Burrows. A scenic site that was created by Nature alone.

Past Rosh Hanikra: we can find Lebanon for a future visit, hopefully.

Dead Sea

Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is the lowest landmark on earth. For over 2 Million years it has been an inspiration for the wonders of nature creating not only the deepest landmark on earth, but also the deepest and most saline body of water, almost 10 times saltier than ocean water. But this is not its only face. The arid elevated landscape surrounding its shores were home to religious sects in ancient times. Johan the Baptist knew this land very well and its potential for religious and spiritual freedom. Jewish Sicarii rebels overtook the fortress on top of the giant rock mountain overlooking the sea’s shore called Masada and declared a rebellion against the Roman Empire to become the hallmark of Jewish struggle for sovereignty and freedom.  When Jewish life revived in the biblical land during the 19th and 20th centaury, it was desperately seeking proof for the deep foundations of it ancient culture. The most dramatic proof was soon found on the dry shores of the Dead Sea in Qumran, where written scrolls quoting passages from the Old Testament were found as proof that this cultural heritage was as ancient as believed to have been and not some later imaginary fiction.

If you decide to visit the Dead Sea, less than an hour’s drive from the center of Jerusalem, you need to be in good hands. You need a guide like Arie Rosenzweig who floats on the many layers of compressed information this ancient valley entails, as you would float yourself while effortlessly resting on the Dead Sea water face. With Arie you will learn about the natural medical merits of this sea, its geological past and cultural role throughout time. From Arie you will learn about the wild life in this rare spot on earth and the efforts invested to save the last free roaming tigers in the Middle East from extinction. You will learn that in recent years, the Dead Sea has become the most spectacular environmental disaster zones in our World with sea level dropping at a fast pace of 1 meter (3 ft.) each year forming thousands of deep sinkholes along its shores. You will also hear about the joint actions Jordan and Israel (2 countries previously at war) are currently undertaking to save this unique marvel from disappearing. On it’s Southern part you will also witness the heavy industrial human impact on the sea and hear about the plans to refill the dying sea with incoming water supplies. With Arie you might see the first appearance of the sun or moon as they rise above shinny looking Dead Sea water. You might choose to visit the Oasis sanctuary park of Ein-Gedi, or choose to witness one of the giant opera house productions held each year to the amazing background of this sea and the spectacular red mountains on its eastern border.

Ceasarea

Caesarea: From  a small Phoenician town transformed to big seaport and the first Roman city by King Herod the Great and called in honour  of Caesar Augustus .

n the city we can see the advanced building techniques of ancient Rome. We find the theatre (which is still active to this day), a hippodrome, bath houses, the old port and the aqueducts.

Arie took us on an amazing tour through Tel Aviv-Yafo. He is kind, amusing and knowledgeable. He can tell you all about his country its history and culture. Arie explains everything easily for everyone to understand. He showed us many beautiful spots. We had a lovely stop at a local cafe, where we had Arabic coffee, Sahlab and Yaffa Knafeh. We highly recommend him as your next guide. We thank you Arie for taking such good care of us, making us feel welcome and guiding us to Israel.

Minerva

We traveled with Arie in a group of 10 to the Northern border of Israel. At our request, Arie took us to Ghajar village and to a few other observation points along the Israel-Lebanon border.

Arie demonstrated great knowledge about the area and its (complicated) history and political developments. His explanations were very interesting, friendly and even amusing.

I highly recommend him as your next tour guide!
